She's running on empty
trying to fill her life with everything good
moving too fast to really
enjoy anything worthwhile
got to get ahead of the game
before she goes up in flames
like a well known hare
running here and running there
I'm late, I'm late, I'm late
for a very important date
Student, worker, wife, and friend
daughter, sister, and then again
someone straining to get ahead
spread so thin it could be said
a little here, and a little there
but nothing too much anywhere
I've got to go, I need some sleep
she might be in a little too deep
I don't mean to be leaving
this all up in the air
I just want you to know
how much I really care
